Yellow Rose Supernova is an important work, a critical turning-point piece that is the first to be completed in phase II of Montana’s body of work: Exquisite Paintings on the Nature of Flowers. This painting marks the beginning of a new phase in Montana’s work originally dated early 2018.
It was early 2018 when I began this painting, and I was feeling a sense of creative renewal. Living in Santa Fe, NM at the time, I enjoyed the creative vibe of the 'city different' as it's known by locals.
As this painting materialized in January 2018, it felt out of the ordinary to me. I couldn't put my finger on it at first, but it all began to make sense after a while.
About a month or two before, I had an intense experience triggered by hearing a piece of music. This music was composed and played by someone whose work I knew and liked. I'd just reconnected with this artist on social media, who I'd seen perform at Carnegie Hall years before.
We wound up chatting briefly, which led to an unexpected energy activation. Nothing out of the ordinary was happening on the outside, but a whole new world was opening up inside me. I'm sure he was unaware of the impact. You just never know when these things are going to happen.
The painting Yellow Rose Supernova was the expression and encapsulation of this experience which was a spiritual reboot that blew open the doors to new pathways. Things began opening up in new and exciting ways.
This was an initiation, an activation of sorts, and it left me changed forever. It is not the first spiritual awakening I've had, but this one directly affected my work. This interaction triggered an energetic download I was ready to receive. It gave me a direct understanding that art was a profound means of communication, and could be extremely important to humanity. This went deep and gave me clarity.
As I received this activation through my crown, which lasted less than a minute, I hoped it would never stop. And in a way, it didn't. It was the beginning of a new phase of my work which I'd later understand. At a deeper level, I suddenly knew that all I had to do was reach within to draw on the vast sustenance that connected me to all of life and was always available.
Expansion can happen quickly, and it can destabilize us. There are no how-to, directions, or manuals on how to navigate shifts like this. Most of the time we aren't even aware they're happening, and we can't make it happen to fit our schedules either.
When we're ready, even if we think we are not, it happens. Some will label you crazy as you integrate and level up, but artists are used to this. Fitting in is not part of the job description. Real creativity is not for those who need certainty based on conventional norms.
An upgrade like this often makes you somewhat incompatible with your current surroundings. That's what happened to me. Where I was supposed to go next wasn't clear yet. And yes, that can be scary. At the time of this awakening, the road ahead was suddenly unclear and what was about to unfold was a series of experiences that would be very challenging.
My unfavorite shadow or self-worth was up. Looking back at the paintings that followed, I see their incredible relevance as each followed the next in perfect succession. I traversed the uncertain and rocky road ahead of me, which was not so much fun.
The takeaway, however, is that now when people see my work they can benefit without necessarily needing to go through all the turmoil I did. Or maybe at least, a bit less of it, I hope. Compassion clears it all eventually, and we free ourselves from that stuff that wrongly defines us. We shift frequency, tweak and re-tune, as we learn to embody more of who and what we truly are. We can play our music.
I was shown how energy can be wrapped around form in ways that go beyond our understanding. The current structure of our thinking needs to change and expand. It's all about light which bypasses the thinking mind. It activates the codes within us that are the light of our being. Our uniquely personal instructions are activated. It's all inside us all along.
An acceleration occurred as I plugged into a deeper layer of myself. It confirmed what I already knew, and it lifted me. I was shown how certain types of communication can come through unimpeded and was asked to trust this more. I received the download with direct and immediate understanding. Nothing in the way. No thinking was involved. Boom. Supernova.
The seed was already inside me. It was sparked to grow by a flash of lightning, and it was now germinating. As I followed the prompts, Yellow Rose Supernova appeared.
For weeks, the fallout from this event filtered down into every aspect of my life and integrated a little at a time. I didn't realize it then, but I'd begun a new phase of my work with this painting. Yellow Rose Supernova marks the beginning of phase two of Exquisite Paintings on the Nature of Flowers, building on nearly 20 years of the original body of work that began in the late 1990s.
And, I continue.
