Practical Spirituality, The Energy Behind my Work

My work is about Nature and sustainable practices within the realms of art and creativity. I consider myself an ambassador between the seen-unseen worlds, bringing dreams into reality through my creations.

Exquisite Paintings on the Nature of Flowers is a body of work based on a sophisticated visual analysis of Nature's frequencies = LOVE. My long-standing body of work, ongoing and now in phase two, began in the early 1990s and is the culmination of a lifetime quest—a sacred journey into the heart of Nature, beauty, and healing the myth of separation.

Mini bio— I was born in New York City in the early 1960s. Shaping much of who I am today, I grew up playing among rose bushes and peach trees in that great city. Understandably, most people find that surprising, considering its reputation for concrete. After 911 I moved around a lot, and currently live in Northern Colorado.

As a second-generation American, I was the first to earn a college degree. I think it meant something to my family. But when I graduated with a BFA from a prestigious school in the 1970s, I realized I was off course.

With a diploma in hand, I embarked on a mission to find my way back to myself. And though there was little context for what I was going through at that time, I slowly made progress, gaining momentum and clarity along the way. The foundation for my mature work was forming.

Fast forward —The Leslie Montana Studio Gallery was located in an upscale New Jersey town in the 1990s. With high ceilings, huge windows, and track lighting, my larger canvases showed well in the main room. A second room had my smaller artworks on display, and visitors came by appointment.

During that time, it became apparent that guests were having unusual experiences in my studio. Some would smell roses when none were present. Other times, tears would emerge spontaneously from out of nowhere. Unexpected relief occurred fairly often, and I wasn't doing anything to facilitate this.

These things still happens today, though I don't have a public gallery space. In-person visitors are less frequent at this time. Though anyone with an internet connection can see my paintings and read my work online, no matter where they are in the world. Though I have less immediate feedback, the scope of my reach is potentially much wider.

My original paintings are available for acquisition on request. They are rare. Products, most of which I design and make myself, can be found in my online shop. My line of small art prints conveys the fact that art transmits energy. My Flower Essence Transmission Collection is available in my online shop here. Original artworks are accompanied by descriptions, relevant stories, and information on dedicated pages. For example Peace Rose, Strength in Softness, A Story of Survival.

Now in my sixties, I feel more inspired than ever as I continue to develop my work as a form of practical spirituality. Art and its creation are linked to the life process and the essence of being. I write more in-depth about this in my newsletter (see articles) and plan on including more on this in my vlog going forward.

I believe the arts are undergoing huge change and being re-made. As one of the artists committed to bringing new ways forward, the pathway is being forged by all of us. As we move away from the over-commodified environment that has reduced the true value of art and creativity, a renaissance, still in its infancy, is showing signs of a culture in rebirth.

So much more to say about all of this...

I'll leave it here for now, and thank you very much for your interest in my work.
